Ahmadreza Halabisaz is an independent photojournalist who was arrested in downtown Tehran on September 24 while he was photographing the protests over the murder of Mahsa Amini by the morality police. A few hours after his arrest, he was permitted to call his family and tell them that he was taken to Evin prison, BBC Persian service reported.

In 2021, as American forces were leaving Afghanistan, Halabisaz travelled to that country to record the events. He was arrested by Taliban and was released after four days.
